I am Genevieve

I seem to always meet stupid people everywhere having doubts about my name. Not directing to anyone in particular, cos too many of this sort exist.

I love my names given to me by my parents, be it in English or Chinese, I just love both. It's just frustrating when people think you gave yourself an English name just because they think it's uncommon and it's definitely nicer than theirs. My full name is even older than I am cos I was given a name when I was still a fetus!

I guess my parents are one of the 1st few parents in Singapore that came up with 'hybrid' names.

Genevieve = original
Genevieve + Alloysius = Genesius
Genevieve + Sylvia = Genevia
Genevieve + Derwin = Genewin

Aren't their names unique? Who would have thought of this? It stresses me somehow cos they put in so much effort just for a name! Even the characters in our Chinese names have been carefully selected, meaning, number of strokes etc.

I have nothing against people who gave themselves an English name, but to me, as much as possible, I'll opt for respecting and accepting my parents' decisions. Afterall, what's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. (William Shakespeare, "Romeo and Juliet")- Ha this just came to my mind suddenly and I felt like typing it out. Rose by any names will look as beautiful.. and a pile of shit... ... ... ...will always BE a pile of shit, will always LOOK LIKE shit, will always smell like shit.. taste, feel etc..

OK I CAN'T HELP IT, IT'S KILLING ME, I have to say something mean to those morons:
Don't be jealous cos your stupid parents can't give you a nice name!! ... and, 'pile of shit', remember?

*relieved* I see some heads shaking, but well, I'm really never a saint you know? I live by a set of principles that's at least 80% unethical, ruthless, despicable, mean, whatever you call it. And I really like the way I am despite some disagreements from my families and friends about things I do. They still love me for the good I've done, and yes I do think I deserve the love.

I'm just being extremely selective to whoever I'm dealing with. I'm nice.. only if you are. If I find you an eyesore, I'll like you to hate me as much, or even more. If you dislike me from the 1st moment, congratualtions cos we will never be friends. If you like me, congrats too cos you've found a good friend! I am a good friend to my girls, and some guys, or gays or lesbians too. The underlying statement stll remains.. I'm nice if you are =)
